IG @littera_tour review of my book “The Silence of Books”.
.
.
HAVING BOOKS IS A CRIME. REPORT IT.
.
Imagine a world where books are banned and violent crimes can be predicted and the murderer arrested before committing the offense. This is the scenario in which this dystopia takes place.
.
Alice is an affectionate girl whose existence is virtually ignored by her parents; he loves stories, and writes everything down in his notebook, which he takes with him wherever he goes.
.
During a trip to the woods, Alice sees that the abandoned house is now moving. When the little girl approaches, the new resident introduces himself: Santiago Pena. The girl tells her parents about the neighbor, who is invited to dinner. Before she can leave, she asks him to tell her a story; Santiago tells it with such richness of detail that it seems that he himself lived that tale.
.
When it's time to leave, when he picks up his jacket, the neighbor drops a notebook, on which is written “Hilário Pena”; he explains what he won and has great affection for the object and always carries it. Alice is fond of Santiago, and dreams that he was her father; but as he already has a father, he could be his grandfather… yes, your grandfather with letters… that's what I would call him.
.
The second part presents Hilário Pena, sentenced to prison for a crime he did not commit. After the negative result of the blood test for the criminal gene, HIlário thinks he will go free, which he doesn't. He is the first in the world with this result. During his stay in prison, he goes to the library with António, who teaches him to appreciate good stories and the books that contain them.
.
But what do the words, found in some books in the Babel Prison library, mean? What secrets does Santiago, the only link between the girl and Hilário Pena, hide? Why does he carry that book? Who was actually Hilário Pena and what happened to him?
.⠀
The book has a reading that holds the mystery, even if at times the detailed description of the places is slightly irritating. It also covers many current and interesting topics, as well as showing how much the pages of a book free your soul and allow you to go anywhere. Definitely recommended.⠀
