The silence of the books is divided into 3 parts and we follow the lives of some characters, who at a given moment end up interconnecting their stories. The author presents us with an extremely disturbing scenario for those who love the universe of books.
It is difficult to summarize this work, because everything I say, in addition to what is in the synopsis, can be a big spoiler, but I can say that the book is much more than what it presents in its narrative. This is that kind of book that needs to be read very carefully, because the true story is hidden in the different layers of it. A more inattentive reader can miss very important messages, and look, the plot is full of them!
“Festina Lens” (Hurry Up Slowly) can sum up all this work. Fausto's way of writing transports the reader inside the story, one moment we become children again, seeing the world through Alice's eyes, another moment we experience all Hilário's loneliness inside the prison and at another moment, we experience another type and solitude, next to Santiago. It is a book that is both easy and difficult to digest.
During the entire reading, I felt a bitter taste, a difficulty in digesting situations, choices, attitudes of people. The world without books is difficult to imagine, but it is a very possible reality and much closer than we can imagine.
The book is excellent. It is a type of reading that leads the reader to reflect a lot on several subjects, among them: consequences of our choices, injustices in this life, selfishness, the way we treat those around us, loneliness, influence and consequences of the exacerbated use of technology. . The only thing that didn't make me give the book 5 stars is that I found the reading a little sluggish at some points, with descriptions that, in my view, might not have been there. I understood what the author wanted to show with them, but it made the reading a little tiring.
The end of the book is surprising and left me with an uncomfortable feeling. Not a bad nuisance, but that little bug poking at the brain, prompting you to think about how I'm dealing with my life. For those who like the genre, this is a highly recommended read.
