HAVING BOOKS IS A CRIME, REPORT

In a society where loving the world of literature is considered one of the worst crimes we can commit, we embark on the stories of Alice and Hilary. A narrative divided into three parts (through Alice's eyes, through other eyes and back through Alice's eyes) where we unravel the past and present of our protagonists.

Alice is a girl as the author himself describes, curious who always wants to know and delve into the world of stories that her grandmother always told her, but with the ban on books and the death of her grandmother, what remains is the sadness of being despised by her family. That gives very little or almost no value to your feelings. Very much reflecting the reality of our society. On the other hand, we have Hilário, a man who, after being arrested and meeting Antônio in jail, begins to fall in love with books and understand how good reading can transform a man and his principles.

“You've been here for so many years and you never realized how precious there is in that dusty place,” Antônio said.         – There are dreams there, lives perhaps more real than ours. With books we can transcend the platitude of our daily lives, get to know places we can never go.”

Owner of poetic writing and very rich in details, the author makes us wonder what it would be like to live without this world we love so much. The silence of books is a demonstration of love for the literary world, where metaphorically it shows how important books are in a society.
